i am blessed.
today *mom* and patty gave us a wedding shower.
they did everything.
and it was amazing.
we had so much fun.
and it was wild to have people from all aspects of my life
come together to celebrate and support us
(especially with gas prices)

we had an impromptu after party
at the bungalow
where we watched the patriots win
and nibbled on the remainder of the gardens tomatoes
in a balsamic kissed olive oil

and now, i've got thank you cards to write,
swag to catalog,
and turtles, caramel apples, & chocolate to eat,
i'm swamped

went shopping today to get gina's wedding outfit.
(nothing like waiting until the last minute...
then it only takes a minute to do)

i suggested the embroidered khaki's (hunting dogs)
and a madras blazer.
jcrew, baby.

strangely, that idea was nixed.

harrumph.

several years ago, when i lived in belmont,
i went to the town clerk's office to get a
family recreation sticker
so we could use the town swimming pool
or the tennis courts, or ice staking rink, etc.

and this terribly prim woman in the office
said that a *family* membership
was *supposed* to be for husband & wife
or parent & child...NOT anything else.

i stood there and forced a smile.
she stood across the desk and continued to
think of england...

time passed.
and being the competitive gal that i am...
i was better at waiting
finally she sighed and said under her breath,
what do i care
and gave me the family card.

fast forward to today
when gina and i went back to the same town clerk's office
to register to be married...
nary a tight smile to be seen.
just a form to fill out.
and instructions to come back in 3 days.

oh little town of belmont mass

will they make it 2 in a row?
it's strange to think they are a better team
than they were last year.

thoughts?

on a different note,
i think i need a new ac adaptor for my laptop
the damn thing keeps switching from ac to battery
and it annoys the bejesus out of me

but not as much as adelphia cable.
the rat bastards.

i went today to get my haircut for the wedding.
i figured it was a good time to practice.
i mean the whole deal...style, blow dry, tease, hairspray
and repeat.

then i got my eyebrows waxed.

i did this as a trial run.
wanted to see what i'd look like
(which by the way, was....adult)
i looked like an adult,
not a girl playing grown up
but an adult adult.

and i'm not sure i liked it
even though everyone said it looked great.
i don't like to think of myself as an adult.
but no matter.

there are 5 weeks until the wedding
this gives me a chance to get used to the hair
and if i need to make any changes, it can still grow out
and then i'll have my hair cut again a week before the wedding
and have it styled the day of

who knew my hair could even do this?

had my first interview yesterday
at a radio station
writing ad copy
um...i've never written radio ad copy.
and 60 seconds about snowmobiles
is harder than it sounds

even if one talks V-E-R-Y slowly

and on the way home i thought of about
6 different ways i could have written it

DOH!

but the people were very nice.
and it reminds me of a very laid back
newsroom. i miss the crackle.
