Weeds of the Northeast by Richard Uva
Been walking in the white mountains with the pups. Need to know what i'm seeing.

Field Guide to Edible Plants by Lee Allen Peterson
mmmmmmmmm..tasty

Common Edible Mushrooms by Clyde Christensen

1st book finish - 3.5 hours

Monday, July 25, 2005

finished the first book
the Robert Parker

onto the next...

library day

went to the town library just now and got
my books for the week:

Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris

Cat's Eyewitness by Rita Mae Brown
Another in a long list of her Sneaky Pie Brown mystery series. I don't particularly care for mysteries, nor cats who write books, but hell...it's Rita Mae. So what is she's crazier than a calico.

Garlic and Sapphires by Ruth Reichl (with little stars as the dot's over the i's) I love Reichl's books. Tender at the Bone was fabulous. Comfort Me with Apples was delicious. (get it? apples... delicious... nevermind)

Appaloosa by Robert B. Parker
Another western by Parker. I don't care if it's the same story over and over again. Some people have their Danielle Steele...I have my Robert B. Parker.

Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner
Ms. Weiner also wrote Good in Bed and In Her Shoes. Chick Lit at it's finest...more or less.

Garden Problem Solver by Pippa Greenwood

Golf Annika's Way by Annika Sorenstam

also picked up on dvd:

Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind
and
50 First Dates

how to put on underwear

Friday, July 22, 2005

apparently i put my underwear on wrong today.

i have my waist in a leg hole
and one leg through the waist opening

and frankly, the whole thing is a bit uncomfortable
but not as bad as, say, drinking orange juice
after brushing your teeth

where the hell is timmy?

Thursday, July 21, 2005

did timmy fall down the well?
go find timmy lassie.

timmy's coming! timmy's coming!

Wednesday, July 20, 2005

hooray!
timmy's coming to nh.
and he's bringing the couch's bbq sauce.

oh heavenly day.

red sox roof deck

Tuesday, July 19, 2005

sat on the roof deck at the red sox game tonight
turned out to be a lovely night

not just because the sox won
...stopping that nasty 3 game losing streak
or that shilling finally got a save
...who has an era of 7.xx? hell, i could pitch that
or that we found parking on bay state road for $1
...gotta love the super secret parking spots

but because of the wonderful friends
who enjoyed it with me

p.s. no more wendy's drive through after midnight...

rainy golf

Monday, July 18, 2005

i headed down to boston today to try to play golf.
the weather refused to cooperate
so rather than golfing
i was forced to shop for golfing accoutrement

there is now a practice net
and 4000 practice balls
in my driveway

weather be damned

mls cybrarian

Saturday, July 16, 2005

i know, i know...what is taking me so long

it is my desire to be a librarian
always has.

all those intelligent women
and sensible shoes.

merciful god.

but my grades sucked in college (all 8.276 years)
and the one time i took the gre's
well, let's just say...
i don't think i even spelled my name correctly
(for which, i'm told, one get's at least 400 points)

but i love to read.
i love books.
i love reference.
trivial.
questions.
thought.
subject.

what is to be done?

where Does one get a degree as a cybrarian?
who knows someone at Simmons that can get me a job there
doing anything...just to take classes free

why do i struggle to write
when i love to read so?

such questions...

The Historian by Kostova

Friday, July 15, 2005

i LOVE reading
and i truly love a great read

gina brought The Historian to me
a gift of the Belmont Library
for 14 days

oh happy day(s)

Boy Meets Boy

Thursday, July 14, 2005

just finished

Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan

happy sigh.
and a snap snap twist

ecco golf shoes...size 42

Wednesday, July 13, 2005

i need a new (to me) pair of golf shoes
my ecco's are size 41
and i believe they are a pinch too small.
(perhaps something in a pale blue...or plaid)

and i have once again mastered
the *refiner* 5-iron
with no breaks in the swing

let the people say amen.

two words: L [brief pause] PGA

esq sexiest woman alive jessica biel

Tuesday, July 12, 2005

esquire is doing a multi-part mystery on
the sexiest woman alive.

given the clues thus far, i deduct it to be:

Jessica Biel

with her dog named EAST
being born while Thatcher was prime minister (1979-1990)
her connection to Billy Bob Thorton
and that whole archery thing
(geena davis was a logical choice, except she doesn't fall within the age group)

that's my story..and i'm stickin' to it

Boston Pops and the 4th

Monday, July 04, 2005

is there anything better than watching
the bass players from the boston pops
twirl their basses
while playing "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy"?

methinks not.

but then again...Star Wars was pretty cool

pale, pale legs

Sunday, July 03, 2005

i am not tan.
i've never been tan.
not even when i was a lifeguard.

i'm the one at the beach
with SPF 457.

'tis july....time to get serious

Saturday, July 02, 2005

i don't know why i say it's time to get serious.
like i've just been f'ing around
and now, NOW, i'm gonna grow up
and get all responsible

yeah, right

that'll last about 3 hours
or until the drugs wear off

hey look, a corn chip in the sofa!
