i'm packing up my office
and i have more stuff in here
than i did in my college dorm room.

and that's saying a lot

interestingly, i believe i still have the same
hawaiian shirt.
hmmmm.

ah....boxing day
which, by the way, has nothing to do with the sport of boxing
it refers to the boxes that presents come in
when the well to do
would put gifts into boxes for the *little people*
such as the house staff
sort of an immediate *regifting* from xmas

the loft is painted.
and frankly, i don't want to see another roller
ever

opened the Taylor, Flagate Vintage Port 2000
yesterday for christmas
it was a ruby port
not tawny
but lovely.
oh, so lovely.

Only in a year when everything is perfect
does Taylor's ‘declare’ a vintage.
The ultimate collector’s wines,
Taylor's Vintage Ports will last for fifty years or more.
They are renowned for their massive structure,
concentration of flavor and distinctive ‘masculine’ style.
Bottled after two years in wood,
they continue to mature for decades in the cellar,
slowly attaining the sublime elegance and power
which are the hallmarks of the Taylor's style.

Taylor's Vintage Ports are classically served after lunch or dinner.
They can be enjoyed without food,
but cheese is a fine accompaniment,
as are nuts or dried fruits.

Taylor's 2000 tastes like a young vintage of Chateau Latour on steroids.*
*parkers words not mine...it should be noted

had a fat-free strawberry yogurt for lunch today
paired it nicely with robitussin expectorant
mmmmm...so many fruit flavours exploding in my mouth

i really need to start my holiday shopping

ok. it's time to get back to the original mission of this blog...

our topic of discussion:
why do american's only use champagne as a toasting device?
there are some wonderful sparkling wines out there
some nonvintage ones are just as good as their vintage (read: expensive)
brethren
and quite frankly, these can be a wonderful compliment to any meal

well, not ham...but then again, nothing really goes with ham anyway.

I'm IN.

The eagle has landed.

so to speak.

please return to your regularly scheduled blog.
just so we all know
i've been sick as a dog for the past week
yet managed to put in my floors
and operate a mitre saw.
dang.
don't try this at home.
on cold medicine.

was sitting in my loft yesterday
thinking that i'm not loving the colours
that i'm painting

my furniture is coming on tuesday
perhaps i'll just wait and see
what colours to paint
after the furniture is in.

or perhaps i'll just hire painters.

went to see simon & garfunkel last night
first tour in 20 years
and that wasn't a tour
but merely a concert in central park

didn't know i was going
it was a surprise

they played Green to Brown during their second encore
hadn't played that in concert since 1967
and i don't care how cliche this is, but
Sound of Silence still gives me chills
after all these years

i loved the n'or easter we got over the weekend
seriously
being from the south
where they will cancel school if there is over a 90% chance of snow
for the next day
whether or not it actually snows!

i loved walking around the south end
in the middle of the street
jumping over HUGE snow piles

i tried to get into my loft
but sadly, the building was all locked up
and i need to reschedule my moving company
again
and i need to get my floors put down
and, well, frankly, i probably need to get a job

nah.

just so we all know...
it wasn't just me that got laid off
it was the whole freakin' department
en masse

like shooting fish in a barrel

if one were to shoot fish

christ.

Tuesday, December 02, 2003

and thus it is finished.

today i got laid off.

Monday, December 01, 2003

ok kids, it's december
time to get serious

i think i'm going to become a professional personal organizer
when i grow up
i'll come to your house
and organize your closets
or your kitchen
or garage
