dinner last night was at rialto's in cambridge. i love rialto.
mainly i love how well i'm treated when i go there.
michela and jody always take care of me and the people i'm with
last night jody sent over an incredible fennel bisque with lobster.
it was sublime. no really. it was. i can't even describe it. ask around.
it was smooth and creamy. velvet in the mouth.
with a sweet lobster bite in the middle.

jody adams is my favourite chef in the city, and dare i say country.
she rocks. and is damn cool to boot.

then we were off to the regatta bar upstairs.
donal fox was outstanding.
the first set was nice, but it paid to stay for the loose second set.
ppppppprrrrrrrrrrrr.

i got my sassy yellow acl brace yesterday.
i'll see the surgeon today to make sure everything is healing according to plan.
not sure what plan that would be
nonetheless, i fear my life as a professional tango dancer has been put on hold.

we're off to denver today for karan & craig's wedding reception.
ah, denver in the springtime.
reminds me of the musical in the producers.
no. not really.
we're back on sunday. with loads of juicy scandal and gossip.
as only your college friends can provide.

what? you came back? work must be slow.

i promised a wine to go with key lime pie.
le colombare 1999 pieropan.
from italy.
it's important that the key lime pie be tart. quality pie. no sense going cheap on the pie, if you are going to add a good wine.
this is a half bottle. and is strangely addictive. it too is a dessert wine, but gosh, it's not like any other i've had.
very big citrus acidity. don't serve too cold.

i did not come up with these food & wine pairings.
the wonderful, wonderful wine & cheese guys at Formaggio Kitchen did.
i merely sat in their class and took copious notes.
i suggest you do the same.

tonight we are off to the Regatta Bar to hear Donal Fox
we have reservations at Rialto beforehand.
it's been a couple of months since we last ate at Rialto.
hopefully the new summer menu will be available
if not, we could always have liquid dinner downstairs at Noir
martini anyone?

my first day on the blog. the crowd is giddy with anticipation. or at least the puppies are all wiggly.

dinner tonight was a wonderful bleu de basque paired with the maurey 1984 mas amiel grenache noir 15 yrs old.
when they call the mas amiel a "red dessert wine" they are misleading on so many counts:
1) it's not red. it's really more a tawny-brown, almost the color of raisins
2) "dessert wine" usually sends shivers down my spine with it's cloying sweetness. this ain't that.
3) it has the nose of figs (and chocolate?) and the most wonderful palette & finish of dried figs. ahhhhh and mmmmm.

that being said. i think i shall retire to take a nap. wait, who am i kidding. there is a dawson's creek series finale to watch (what, again?) or another madonna reloaded interview. (groan). is channel surfing considered exercise? when IS sex in the city starting it's final season. can't be too soon for me.

healthpoint just called. my custom acl brace has come in. i'm to pick it up tomorrow. it's what all the hep cats are wearing these days. especially the ones with bad knees and large acl surgery scars. i decided to go with bright yellow. no point in trying to have it match my eyes. i did that the last time and we all see how far it got me.

tomorrow: what wine to pair with key lime pie.
